Essex solos page of South East Christian Singles

Essex Solos is a local group of single Christians who meet to enjoy social activities and to make friendships.  Essex Solos exists to provide an opportunity for Christians over 18 years, who may be single, separated, divorced or widowed to meet up in and around Essex . We welcome new members both male and female who may already be Christians and also those who are non - Christians who are interested in joining social events arranged by us. The Essex Solos Committee is run by a group of volunteers and therefore we do not charge a subscription fee but we sometimes include a small booking fee to cover our administration costs. We are interested in hearing members views on our events and we would also like to hear your ideas for future events and particularly if your able to help organise an event for us.

If you want a map and have the internet put the postcode in to www.multimap.com. Nearest mainline stations are Brentwood or Horndon but the pub is approximately 2 miles from both stations.

15th January (Friday) - Ceroc Evening at Corringham Hall, Springhouse Rd, Corringham, Essex, SS17 7LE. An evening of modern jive with a licensed bar. Beginner and intermediate class followed by freestyle time. Wear cool clothes! Parking available but come early. Entry £7. Contact: Alison Prowse on 07941 802855 if you want to come and arrive a little before 8pm if possible, so that we can get a table together. 

7th February – Sunday lunch at ‘The Greyhound’, Magpie Lane, Little Warley, Brentwood, CM13 3DZ. Meet 1.15pm for 1.30pm. Text or ring Alison on 07941 802855 to let her know you plan to come before the day!

13th March (Saturday) – Visit to ‘The Imperial War Museum’, Lambeth Road, London, SE1 6HZ. Meet at 12 noon at the entrance before having lunch in the café. Then wander around the museum (admission free) and any special exhibitions (fee applicable). Meet up for afternoon tea about 4pm back in the café then leave or stay until the museum closes. Museum open from 10 am to 6pm. Text Alison on 07941 802855 to let her know you are coming. 

15th May (Saturday) – Audley End and Saffron Walden. Meet for lunch at ‘The Queen’s Head’, High Street, Littlebury, Saffron Walden, CB11 4TD at 12.30 pm after which there will be options to visit Audley End House, Saffron Walden itself, go for a walk etc. Contact Kathy Rose on 01708 640143 to let her know you want to come. If there are any problems on the day contact her on 07814 465247.

6th June - Sunday lunch at ‘The Greyhound’. Meet 1.15pm for 1.30pm. Text or ring Alison on 07941 802855 as for February.

5th September - Sunday lunch at ‘The Greyhound’. Meet 1.15pm for 1.30pm. Text or ring Alison on 07941 802855 as for June.

9th October (Saturday) – Pub lunch and walk at Hanningfield Reservoir. Meet 12.30 pm at ‘The Bell’ Pub, Main Road, Rettendon Common, Chelmsford, Essex, CM3 8DY after which we will take a short drive to Hanningfield Reservoir Visitor Centre, Hawkswood Road, Downham, Billericay, Essex, CM11 1WT where we will walk, hopefully with enough time for tea and cake at ‘The Café on the Water’ before returning to the visitor centre. Text or call Alison on the usual number to say you will be joining this event! Good sturdy shoes required.

7th November - Sunday lunch at ‘The Greyhound’. Meet 1.15pm for 1.30pm. Text or ring Alison on 07941 802855 as for September.

18th December (Saturday) – Christmas ‘Trivial Pursuit’ Evening with a take away. Meet at 7pm at Alison’s house, 48 Rayleigh Road, Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, SS17 ONE. Text her on the usual number to let her know you are attending. Bring your own drink and enough money for the take away of your choice!
